After a long wait, WhatsApp, under Meta’s umbrella, has finally released a dedicated app for iPad! Jess Weatherbed reports that, over 15 years since both WhatsApp and the iPad first launched, users can now download a native iPad experience from the App Store. This eagerly anticipated app brings feature parity with the iPhone version, allowing for audio and video calls with up to 32 participants, seamless camera use, and even screen sharing. No more clunky web browser workarounds!
According to the official statement, the iPad version takes advantage of iPadOS features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. This means multitasking with WhatsApp is finally a breeze! Users can now effortlessly view messages side-by-side with other apps, making the iPad a more practical device for staying connected. Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, had previously expressed Meta’s enthusiasm for developing a native iPadOS app, acknowledging the long-standing demand. The launch was subtly teased on X, and now it’s finally here. And the rumors say that, maybe, Instagram could be next in line for an iPad version.
