Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has unveiled Grok-3, its latest chatbot designed to compete with leading AI models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and China’s DeepSeek. Launched on February 17, 2025, Grok-3 boasts advanced reasoning capabilities and has been trained with ten times more computing power than its predecessor, Grok-2, utilizing xAI’s massive Colossus supercomputer.
Grok-3 introduces two distinct modes: “Think,” which displays step-by-step reasoning, and “Big Brain,” tailored for complex problem-solving tasks that require substantial computational resources. Early evaluations suggest that Grok-3 outperforms models from OpenAI, Google, and DeepSeek, positioning xAI as a formidable contender in the AI industry.
Access to Grok-3 is currently available through xAI’s SuperGrok subscription tier and to Premium+ subscribers on Musk’s social media platform, X. The Premium+ subscription has been updated to $40 per month, reflecting the enhanced features offered. Additionally, xAI plans to release Grok-2 as an open-source model in the coming months, further contributing to the AI research community.
In conjunction with Grok-3, xAI has introduced DeepSearch, a next-generation search engine designed to enhance research, brainstorming, and data analysis tasks. This tool aims to provide users with detailed summaries by scanning the internet and X, positioning it as a competitor to existing AI-powered research tools.
These developments underscore xAI’s commitment to advancing AI technology and offering innovative solutions in the competitive AI landscape.
